bagboy is a golf scorecard maker that creates a live digital scorecard for your entire group — not just you. Pick the course, add your players, and the card fills in par, stroke index, and yardages for the tees you are playing. One person keeps score, and every player follows the card in real time on their own phone. Add side games like skins, Nassau, or Wolf and they run on top of the same scorecard. After the round, share the completed card or save it to your history.

Creating a Scorecard

Setting up a scorecard in bagboy takes about thirty seconds:

1. Pick the course. Search by name or browse nearby courses. bagboy has course data for thousands of courses across the United States.
2. Choose tees. Select which tees your group is playing from. If players are hitting from different tees, each player can be assigned their own tee box.
3. Add players. Invite players by name, phone number, or share link. Everyone who accepts joins the scorecard.
4. Add games (optional). Stack any combination of side games on top of the scorecard — skins, Nassau, Wolf, match play, Stableford, Vegas, dots, or custom games. Set the stakes for each.
5. Start the round. The scorecard is live. Start entering scores on the first hole.

That is it. No entering hole-by-hole pars. No looking up stroke index values. No typing in yardages from the card on the cart. The course data is already there.

What Fills In Automatically

When you select a course and tees, bagboy populates the scorecard with:

• Par for every hole. Par 3s, par 4s, par 5s — all set correctly for the course you are playing.
• Stroke index (SI). The handicap stroke allocation for each hole. This determines which holes players receive strokes on in net scoring. It is specific to the course and tees you selected.
• Yardages. The distance for each hole from the tees you chose. If different players are on different tees, each player sees their yardage.
• Course and slope rating. Used to calculate course handicaps from each player's Handicap Index.

All of this data comes pre-loaded. You never enter it manually. If your group plays the same course every week, you do not re-enter the course data every time — you just create a new round at the same course and add your players.

One Keeper, Everyone Follows

Most scorecard apps give every player their own card. That creates duplicates, inconsistencies, and the classic problem of two players having different scores for the same hole.

bagboy uses a single-keeper model. One person in the group is the designated scorekeeper. They enter scores hole by hole on their phone. Every other player follows the card live on their own phone — scores update in real time as they are entered.

The benefits:

• No duplicate entry. Scores are entered once, seen by everyone.
• No conflicts. There is one official scorecard. No "I had you for a 5 on that hole" disputes.
• No passing a phone around. The keeper enters scores from their phone. Everyone else just watches.
• The keeper can change. If the designated keeper wants a break, another player can take over mid-round.

Games Run on the Scorecard

The scorecard is not just a scorecard. It is the engine that drives every side game. When the keeper enters a score for a hole, bagboy instantly calculates the result for every game running on that card:

• Did someone win the skin? Or does it carry?
• Who is up in the Nassau? Did anyone trigger a press?
• What are the Wolf points for this hole?
• What is the Vegas number for each team?
• Who earned a greenie, sandy, or birdie dot?

Every game updates from the same score entry. No separate tracking, no side calculations, no parallel scorecards. Enter the score once and everything updates.

Automatic Handicap Strokes

Each player adds their USGA/WHS Handicap Index on their profile. When you create a round, bagboy calculates the course handicap for each player based on the course rating, slope, and tees selected. Strokes are allocated to the correct holes based on the stroke index.

You see both gross and net scores on the card. Every game that uses net scoring (which is most of them, for mixed-handicap groups) applies strokes automatically. No looking up a stroke allocation chart. No arguing about which holes give strokes. The app handles it.

During the Round

As the round progresses, the scorecard shows:

• Hole-by-hole scores for every player, gross and net.
• Running totals for the front nine, back nine, and eighteen.
• Game standings for every side game — skins won, Nassau match status, Wolf points, Vegas spread.
• Over/under par for each player relative to the course.

Every player sees this on their phone in real time. The scorekeeper does not have to read out results after each hole. Everyone knows where they stand, always.

After the Round

When the round is complete, the scorecard becomes a permanent record tied to the course, the date, and every player in the group. It includes:

• Full eighteen-hole scores for every player.
• Final results for every side game, including who owes who.
• Stats: fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts (if tracked), scoring average contribution.
• A shareable summary you can post to your crew's feed or send to the group.

The card lives in your history. Weeks, months, or years from now, you can pull up that Saturday round, see every score, and settle any argument about who won the back nine.

Can I use bagboy just as a scorecard, without side bets?

Yes. Skip the games and use bagboy as a clean, live group scorecard. Plenty of groups do exactly that.

How many players can be on one scorecard?

A standard round supports up to the number of players in your group. For larger events, use bagboy tournaments to run multiple groups on a shared leaderboard.

What if the scorekeeper makes a mistake?

Scores can be edited at any time during the round. If you entered a 5 and it should be a 4, just tap the score and change it. All game calculations update instantly.

Does the scorecard work offline?

bagboy requires a connection for the live group features (real-time score updates for other players). The scorekeeper can enter scores, and they sync when connectivity returns.
